What does the "Bids Left" sign in the auction page mean? 
The "Bids Left" sign indicates the required number of bids needed for the auction to close.

What does the "Countdown Timer" sign in the auction page mean? 
Each auctioned item has a countdown timer, which indicates the time left for the auction.The countdown timer is restarted once the "Bids Left" quota has not been met.

What is a "Free Bid" for an auction? 
If you receive a free bid for a certain auction, you will see a "free bid" sign under your bid, while a "bid cost 0" notification will appear above it. In order to be able to view these, you must be logged into your user account.

What is a 'Half Price Bid'?
Half Price Bids, your first few bids on most auctions will be half price, this means you only pay half the price of the original bid. You will see the bids cost will be halved when you are entitled to these bids. A pop up will inform you how many half price bids you have, also on the green tool bar it is indicate.

What does the "Bid Cost" in the auction page mean? 
A Bid's cost will be visible only upon logging into the site and indicates a bid's cost for a certain auction.

What does the Gift Icon mean? 
Gift icons appear when an auction offers free bids or other specified gifts. The gift icon can be visible on the bids button under the homepage.

What does the "Hot Auction/Closing Soon" sign mean? 
A "Hot Auction/Closing Auction" sign indicates an auction is close to reaching its "Bids Left" quota, and the countdown timer is running out. At this point you can still place bids and compete for the first place. Professionals tip: this would be the best time to try and win an auction.

What does the "Auction Closing" sign mean? 
An "Auction Closing" sign indicates that this auction has reached its required "bids left" quota, and will end when the countdown timer ends. At this point you can still place bids and compete for the first place. Professionals tip: this would be the best time to try and win an auction.

What does the "Max Price" title mean? 
A "Max Price" is the highest value that can be entered in an auction. Our system wil not accept higher bids than the maximum price.
For example, if the Max Price in an auction is set at N39,000, a N39100 value or more will not be accepted.

How will I know when an auction ends? 
An auction ends when the "Bids Left" quota and Countdown Timer both reach "0". The Auction will then be marked as "CLOSED".
If the "Bids Left" quota has not been met, the countdown timer will reset itself and the auction will continue until the bids quota is reached.

How will I know if I've won? 
Once the auction reaches its "Bids Left" quota and the countdown timer ends, the highest unique bid, the one in the 1st position, will win the auction. Winners will be notified of their win by email.

I won a product, what happens next? 
Winners have 2 choices:
"Convert"- convert the value of the product to funds that will be wired to your Betabids account less 10%. "Pay"- pay the winning bid's amount for the product in question and it'll be dispatched to your home address. Betabids Vouchers cannot be converted but can only be credited to your Betabids bid wallet.

Why do you request verification?
An email/ phone verification is required in order to ensure that the product is sent to the winner's right address.

When does the auction close?
An auction closes when the "Bids Left" and "Countdown Timer" both reach "0".

How will I know when my auction is closing?
You will receive an e-mail or SMS message informing you of any closing auction. Please note that you will need to provide a mobile number to receive this message.

When do new auctions open?
Popular auctions reopen immediately after closing. By keeping up to date with our newsletters, you will be informed of our closing auctions and other Betabids news and perks.

  1. 2.   Bidding

Can I place more than one bid?
Placing more than one bid is recommended, as it will increase your chances of winning the auction. Also By doing this you will have an indication of your bids' position against other bids.

What is a "Unique" bid?
A "Unique Bid" is a bid of a certain value offered by a sole bidder. At the end of the auction, the highest unique bid equal to the auction's Max Price wins the auction.

What is a "Non-Unique" bid?
A "Non-Unique" bid is a bid with a value that was entered by more than one bidder. A non-unique bid does not have a position on the bids-board and thus cannot win the auction.

What is a "Ruled Out" bid?
A bid is ruled out of the auction if one of the following occurs:
- The bid is positioned as the 4th in a row by the same bidder
- The bid is the 10th bid by the same bidder and is positioned as one of the top 50 bids. 
A ruled out bid does not have a position on the bids table and thus cannot win the auction.

What happens if I choose the same bid value twice?
If you accidentally try to place the same bid, your original bid will not be cancelled and you will not be charged for the duplicated bid.

What happens if I select the same bid as someone else?
If you select the same bid as someone else, your bid will knock off theirs and this bid cannot longer participate in the auction. You will be charged for this bid, however this can, if used right, help you win the auction.

What happens if someone else selects the same bid as me?
Unfortunately, 2 bids of same value rule each other out and cannot longer participate in the auction.
Therefore you should re-bid, with a new unique bid entry.

Can I change my mind once I have placed a bid?
No, once you place your bid it will affect the order of the other participant´s bids in the auction and will become irreversible. Please remember that you will be charged for this bid.

Will I be charged for each bid?
Yes, each bid you place is of a certain value, which is indicated on the left hand side below the countdown clock when you enter an auction. You will not be charged for the bids with a value above the max price and for the identical bids (bid amount placed twice by the same bidder).

Do I pay for delivery?
No, you do not pay for the delivery. Deliveries are free of charge to any location in Nigeria, unless otherwise specified under the auction page itself.

Where do you deliver to?
We deliver to any location in Nigeria free of charge.

What happens if my product arrives damaged?
Should you receive a faulty or damaged product, please inform our customer services team immediately. They will be happy to assist you and guide you through the procedure of repairing or replacing your product.

How long until I receive my product?
Your win will be processed as soon as payment is made, then the winning item will be dispatched to you as stated under the auction in question. Please click here for detailed delivery times.

Are all products original? 
Yes, all of our products are original, brand new and factory sealed.

Do the products come with a guarantee? 
Yes, all products come with a full manufacturer's or supplier's guarantee.

Is there an age limit for participating in the auction? 
Yes, you have to be 18 years old or over, and own an e-mail address in order to take part in the auctions.

Why do you need my credit card details for free bids? 
Your credit card details are used for verification purposes and in case you win an auction. Free bids are free of charge. Paid bids are charged according to the amount specified on the "buy bids" page.

How do I change my password or details?
To change your password all you need to do is the following: 1. Login to your account 2. Click on the "My account" link 3. Change your password or details. Remember to click "Save Details" prior to logging out!

What can I do if I forgot my username or my password?
If you remember the email address you registered with, please use the "Forgot Password" link. Your user name and password will be sent to this email address. If you don't have the email address with which you registered or don't have access to it, please contact our customer support team.

How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from receiving Betabids notifications, promotions and auction news?
In order to subscribe/ unsubscribe to the notifications and email, login to your account, click on the "Account Details" link and check/uncheck, the box titled "Please keep me informed on the latest Betabids auctions news and updates". Remember to click "Save Details" once you're done!

How do I change my personal details?
In order to edit any of your personal info, first login to the system. Then click on the "Change account details" link, edit your details and save them for further use. Note, validation via email may be required.

How do I check my credit?
In order to check your credit, please log in to your account and click the button " My Account". When you enter it, on the right side under your avatar picture you will find the "balance" information.

How do I delete or cancel my account?
In order to delete your account, please send an e-mail to support@betabids.com. If you have any active auctions under your account (auction/s you placed bid/s on), you first need to wait until the auction/s in question end/s, and only then follow the above instructions.

Can I open more than one account?
No. Having more than one user account is deemed as a violation of the site's Terms and Conditions and therefore can lead to your account being permanently banned and any wins being revoked.

 

  1. 6.   Payment and payment options

How can I pay for the products?
You can pay for the products and services on the site via a valid credit/debit card.

How do I pay for bidding?
You will be required to purchase a Bids Bank to pay for your bidding. The higher the Bids Bank, the more bonus you will receive. Each bid you place will be charged a participation fee.

How secure are your payment methods?
We take your privacy and your security very seriously. We use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol to secure every bit of data you provide us. We do not store any financial information on our servers.

What happens if I don´t have a credit card?
Your credit card details are used for verification purposes and to purchase the winning product. All winning products will be sent to the card address. To purchase a Bid Bank, you can use any major credit/debit card.

Can I get a refund?
You'd be entitled to a refund if you didn't use any bids or bonuses you received to your Betabids account in any of the auctions on the site. In case you are entitled to a refund, i.e. have not yet exhausted your funds, please call our customer care centre for more details.

Can I get a refund for unused Bids Bank?
Yes, provided you haven't used any of your bids or bonuses to participate in any auctions. Please note that once you have used your Bids bank, it becomes non-refundable. In case you are entitled to a refund and have not yet exhausted your funds, pleasecall our customer care centre for more details.
